Relaxation & 7 Self-Care Rituals for Thanksgiving

Relaxation & 7 Self-Care Rituals for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving season can be beautiful, but let’s be real… it can also be loud, busy, draining, and a whole lot of “can you make this real quick?”

And if you’re a woman, sometimes it feels like this holiday was built on our backs. The cooking, the planning, the last-minute store runs, the emotional support… all of it.

You are allowed to rest, soften, and protect your peace, especially during the holidays.

Here are some gentle, grounding rituals to help you reclaim Thanksgiving as a day of comfort, calm, and nourishment for you, too.

✨ 1. Start Your Morning With a Quiet Cup of Something Warm

Before the house wakes up, before anybody asks you for anything…
Give yourself 10 sacred minutes.

Wrap up in a blanket. Sit by a window.
Sip something warm like lavender honey tea, hemp tea, whatever soothes your spirit.

Let your shoulders drop.
Let your breath slow down.
Let your mind unclench.

This moment is yours.

✨ 2. Set an Intention for the Day

Don’t let Thanksgiving happen to you.

Decide:

  • “Today I choose ease.”
  • “I will not overwork myself.”
  • “I will not argue with anybody’s grown child.”
  • “I deserve softness.”

Say it out loud. Write it down.
Carry it with you.

✨ 3. Keep a Relaxing Aroma in the House

A simple ritual that shifts the whole mood:

Warm honey + lavender + vanilla + candles/incense + a clean space = peace.

Your home should feel like a hug, not a workplace.
Tea simmering on the stove, soft music playing, lights low… it changes everything.

✨ 4. Use “The Pause” When Family Gets to Acting Up

Listen… everybody has that one cousin, auntie, or uncle who needs to grow up.

Here’s your holiday hack:
Before reacting → Pause. Breathe. Sip your tea. Blink slowly like an old-school auntie.💅🏼

You don’t have to match anybody’s energy.
Let them stay mad while you stay peaceful.

✨ 5. Step Outside for a 5-Minute Gratitude Walk

Go on the porch.
Walk to the mailbox.
Stand in the sun.
Touch a tree like the peaceful person you are.

Get a moment of fresh air and feel your body come back to you.

✨ 6. Create a Nighttime Wind-Down Ritual

After the food is eaten, the kids are loud, and the dishes are looking at you?

Take your moment back.

  • A hot shower or bath
  • A cup of hemp tea and spoonful of honey
  • Cozy pj's
  • Your favorite blanket
  • Something soothing on the TV

This is how you close the holiday with ease instead of exhaustion.

✨ 7. A Final Word

Thanksgiving is about gratitude, not burnout.
Food tastes better when the person who made it is not overwhelmed.

Let this be the year you:

  • Sit down more
  • Delegate without guilt
  • Say “I’m not doing all that this year”
  • And choose peace over performance

You deserve a stress-free holiday
And it starts with you.

Sincerely,  Ma T
